EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT ELECTIONS 2024

In Estonia, the European Parliament elections will take place on 9 June 2024 from 9.00 to 20.00. During the election week from 3 June to 9 June, citizens residing abroad may also vote at any polling station in Estonia. More information on the elections can be found here. Estonian citizens permanently residing abroad, voters temporarily residing abroad and citizens of a Member State of the European Union residing in Estonia who have applied to vote abroad are entitled to vote abroad.

There are three ways to vote abroad:
• Electronic voting www.valimised.ee starts on Mon 03.06.2024 at 9.00 and ends on Sat 08.06.2024 at 20.00. Read more about e-voting here.
• You can vote at the Estonian Embassy in Bucharest on two days: on Monday, 27 May 10am- 4pm and on Tuesday, 28 May 10am-4pm. Please let us know if you want to vote at the embassy by email to  [email protected].
• To vote by post, application together with application and a copy of the identity document’s page with personal data, must be sent to the Estonian Embassy in Bucharest no later than 10 May 2024. The voter may also send the application and a copy of the attached document electronically to [email protected]. If the voting application is sent in the form of a simple e-mail (i.e. unsigned), it will be accepted if it is sent from the applicant’s address and is accompanied by a scanned (or photocopied) copy of the identity document. Late applications will be disregarded.

Estonian citizens shall not be included in the electoral roll of Estonia or shall be removed from it if they are included in the electoral roll of another Member State of the European Union (on the basis of information received from the other Member State). Changes to the electoral roll will be made from 10 May 2024. European Union citizens will be able to vote at the embassy if they have submitted an application to the State Electoral Service by 10 May 2024 and are registered on the Estonian electoral roll.

REMEMBER!
• Make sure that your passport or ID card is valid on the day of the election.
• If you want to vote online with an ID card, make sure you have a valid PIN codes. Read more here.
• Voters who live permanently abroad must have their place of residence established in the Estonian population register. If this is not the case, you will not be included on the electoral roll. You can check your place of residence in the e-population register.
